More often than not a contemplative and poetic improviser predominantly on soprano saxophone, Grimal can also play tenor saxophone with great authority and is a convincing, ethereal vocalist. Boasting an eclectic and extensive discography, Grimal has performed with many prominent European jazz/improv musicians such as Joëlle Léandre, Marc Ducret and Giovanni Di Domenico, and has been a featured soloist with the French Ministry of Culture-sponsored Orchestra National de Jazz. Across the Atlantic, she has worked with Tyshawn Sorey, Thomas Morgan, Lee Konitz, Oliver Lake, Paul Motian, and Gary Peacock.　For this Shibuya matinee performance Grimal will be appearing with with hyper-koto player Michiyo Yagi and drummer Tamaya Honda, often appearing together as the duo Dōjō.
